Hard Core Ministry is a book project by Kevin Harper. You can read more about Kevin here. HardCoreMinistry.com is an outreach of the author, with a mission complementary to that of the book. HCM will include podcasts, discussion outlines, and other resources to accomplish the goal of contributing to the edification of the body of Christ. The mission of HCM can be stated fairly succinctly by these two scripture passages: And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works. (Hebrews 10:24) Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29) The ideas and resources published on HCM exist to encourage and equip believers in Jesus Christ to serve as ministers of the gospel in their daily lives, passionately and compassionately. While there's nothing wrong wtih vocational leaders in the church—some of Christianity's most influential leaders are in ministry vocationally—Kevin created HCM to share a broader vision of ministry that includes all parts of the body in the ministry of the church. In fact, pulpit ministry on Sunday morning should only be one small facet of Christian ministry. Most pastors would agree with that statement. One of the greatest goals of a good pastor or preacher is to increase the participation of the congregation in both the public and private ministry opportunities that present themselves. God has gifted everyone in some way. Believers need to rise to the challenge of using those gifts for the Kingdom. Organized or organic, ministry opportunities are everywhere. The subtitle of the Hard Core Ministry book, "Building a Life of Opportunistic Service," serves to focus HCM on the thought that ministry equals service motivated by the Greatest Command, to love. That means all members of the body should be ministering—e.g., serving—full time and opportunistically. To that end, we hope you find Hard Core Ministry resources both useful and encouraging! If you get some good out of HCM, please pray for its success and share it with others. |
Attributing good motives |
|
It's my experience that one of the most kind and useful things we can do to facilitate edifying relationships with other believers is to assume they have good motives. When I don't recognize that a fellow Christian is sincere in what I perceive to be his error, it is far too easy to dismiss him or demonize him. |
